Mug Cake – Recipe


You know those mornings where you want something special for breakfast? Or in the middle of the afternoon when you just want a sweet snack? Well, I have the perfect solution for you, and a very easy one too!

Today we are learning how to make a very simple Cake in a Mug:


You will need:

  • 1 egg
  • 30g of butter (melted)
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 6 tablespoons of flour (if you want to go for the chocolate version use 4 tbs of flour and 2 of cocoa powder)
  • 40g of sugar (or a bit less if you think it’s too much sugar)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Chocolate chips or a chocolate bar cut into small bits.


  1. Put the butter in a bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds until it melts. Make sure it’s not too hot.
  2. Add the egg to the butter and whisk it really well.
  3. Add the milk, the vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and the sugar.
  4. Add the flour and mix until its completely homogenous.
  5. Now add the chocolate chips.
  6. Put the mix in a rather large mug.
  7. The time that you have to microwave it depends on your microwave. Start with 2 minutes when it’s done stick a toothpick in it if it comes out clean it’s done if not add 30  seconds more.
  8. Let it cold down for 15 minutes and ENJOY!


*Make sure to not over-cook it or it will be solid rock once it’s cold*
